Police fired tear gas canisters and flash grenades to disperse demonstrators near the White House in Washington DC on Monday evening, ahead of an 11pm (03:00 GMT) curfew as the US capital entered a fourth night of protests over the killing of George Floyd. Protesters can be seen running as tear gas billows in the streets, heavy police presence as well as military helicopters flying low-level manoeuvres right over groups of people. "The problem in this country right now is there is a complete vacuum of leadership, no one is stepping up and saying anything, no one is doing anything," said Christian, one of the protesters. "We are going to keep going until we get change. And Donald Trump and his tweets are not going to stop us." Earlier on Monday, US President Donald Trump urged local authorities to ensure a strong law enforcement presence to quell unrest. "If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them," he warned while speaking at the Rose Garden outside the White House in Washington DC.
