6. Zombie Fungi

Now, one of the most common questions about "becoming" a zombie is...how is it caused? Well, that's the thing, most good zombie stories leave it up to the imagination. After all, if it was "clear" how it could happen, then where's the mystery? Most times, people think of a virus that goes haywire and infects people, thus turning them into zombies. But what if it was something more simple? What if...it was a fungus?

5. Zombie Parasite.

A parasite is defined as an entity that infects another living thing, feeds off of that entity, and then eventually kills it. There are many cases of this in the world today. However, there are some cases in which the parasite basically turns the "host" into a zombie of one form or another.

4.  Zombie Worms

So, what's worse than a zombie virus? Well, a zombie virus with a purpose. Let me explain. Most zombie outbreaks have a singular thing in common, they infect random people, and once they do, they're given primal instincts to attack and infect other people. While terrifying, that's not exactly a purpose, that's instinct. However, in the case of a certain "zombie worm", it does have a purpose, and it'll work its magic until that purpose is fulfilled.

3. Zombie Rats

Here's a terrifying thought for you, what if you could be turned into a zombie by rats? Rats were the source of the Bubonic Plague, which wiped out most of Europe at one time. Furthermore, rats are everywhere, even if you don't see them, so, if they were infected, we'd likely be screwed. Thankfully, while there are cases of zombie rats, they don't go for humans. Instead...they go for cats.

2. Zombie Frogs

This one is short but sweet, and by "sweet", I mean in the romance way. You see, there is a parasite out there called Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis. And it has a thing for frogs. In fact, unlike certain other species we've talked about here on this list, it doesn't really care what kind of frog gets infected by it, it just goes and infects them. The question becomes, to what end? What are they trying to accomplish?
