First test of NOVA reactor





NOVA - Egely Reactor Tests

In the months of May and June of 2017, MFMP will have several large (and likely exciting) projects on our plate. The projects are summarised below.

AURA - Validation Testing of a claimed LENR Device in Eastern Europe with a COP of 12 done black-box style with no details of how the device actually works.

NOVA - Demonstration and Validation of a LENR device by George Egely claimed to produce dramatic transmutations in a microwave driven dusty plasma. (This document)

Egely has agreed to produce a working copy of his reactor for us to test live from Brno, Czech Republic in late September. If we can demonstrate measurable transmutations, our hope is to be able to facilitate mass replications in various labs.

About this planning document

This document is being developed live, online and with public access to view it. It will change as we learn more about the system to be tested. It will change as we get suggestions from interested parties. We believe in the power of the crowd to process information and contribute from many perspectives to make a better overall product. Project Plan:

The plan for testing this device are relatively simple. There will be no calorimetric assessments. We will only look for evidence of transmutation. The plan is, basically, to put some powder into his device, run it for the prescribed amount of time, and then characterize both the feedstock and the resulting material in an SEM/EDX and an ICP-MS to look at morphology, and look for transmutations or isotopic shifts.

Hypothesis to test: This device is capable of (1) making carbon dust magnetic through transmutation of elements (claimed it can make iron as per George Ohsawa reactions), and (2) transmuting other elements as well.

Detailed procedures

Setup:

NOVA machine in a room

Full time camera covering the whole room

Camera that can zoom in on the machine while operating

Camera that can follow people working and talking

Optris Thermal Camera to watch reactor with

Spectrum Analyzer for observing EMF near the machine

Clock on the wall set to local and UTC

An ideal setup is to run this device in our own space till we are confident that it operates. Then we move the device into the same room with an SEM/EDX machine for a final, live run or two. That way we can walk through the whole process live and get rapid results on the test.

For each test run

Describe each run on camera

Take a sample of the reactant powder

Visibly mix it around enough to convince viewers of homogeneity

Distribute some reactant into the reactor and some into a sample container

Make sure the reactor itself is clean

Note the weight of reactant put in (exactly how?)

Weigh quartz sphere empty

Weigh with reactant in it

Note the weight of the reactant sample

Tare the sample container

Weigh sample container after material is in it

Label sample container (sample naming conventions below)

Run the device for suggested amount of time (Egely’s prerogative to specify)

During run, observe with normal camera, thermal camera, and spectrum analyzer

Remove final sample

Weigh

This procedure could be modified to only extract a small amount of product material and then turn the device on for another time period in order to get some more resolution on any rate of change of the reactants.

Sample Naming Conventions

Format: R/P Run# - A/B/C/D

Example: R 1 - A would the first sample of the raw material for test 1

R - Reactant - The starting feadstock material for a test in the reactor

P - Product - The reactant after it has been through the process ther reactor produces

Test # - single digit numeric character indicating which test it came from. The tests will be done based on the test list above. Any improvising of new tests at the time will be noted in the test log woksheet [note, make these test logs]

A/B/C/D - In case we take multiple samples for a given test run, this single alpha character will indicate which sample it is. If taking more than one sample, the description for it must be in the test log worksheet

Live Open Science Plan

All data files will be archived on Google Drive in the NOVA - Egely Reactor folder.

Live stream of the process will be done via webcam or handheld device with a camera and a laptop running ManyCam.

Optris Thermal Camera or Spectrum Analyser windows will be part of the live stream when it is pertinent. Any important readings will be captured as digital files or screen captures and archived in the google doc.
