A University of Maryland freshman from Howard County, Maryland, has died from complications from Adenovirus, and her grieving family is left wondering whether her death could have been prevented and if mold in her College Park campus dormitory played a role in her fatal illness. Agriculture officials in Victoria, Australia reported responding to positive identification of anthrax in a sheep on a property near Swan Hill over the weekend. Victoria's Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Charles Milne, said the affected property had now been quarantined and appropriate biosecurity protections were in place. A food worker in eastern Kentucky was diagnosed with hepatitis A. WYMT reports the Kentucky River District Health Department is asking people who ate at Lee's Famous Recipe on East Main Street in Hazard from Oct. 25 - Nov. 13 to get a hepatitis A vaccination. The health department says food handler at the restaurant was showing symptoms of hepatitis A while at work. Hepatitis A causes loss of appetite, nausea, tiredness, fever, stomach pain, brown-colored urine, jaundice and light-colored stools. China has confirmed two cases of H5N6 avian bird flu on poultry farms in the southwestern province of Yunnan, the Agriculture Ministry said on Wednesday. Local authorities have culled 10,280 birds following the outbreaks, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said in a statement on its website. Outbreaks infected a total of 11,340 birds in two farms in Tengchong city and Luquan county in Yunnan, and killed 9,820 of them, the statement said.
