RuptlyNO ACCESS GERMANY An emergency hospital for coronavirus patients officially opened in Berlin on Monday, with no patients being treated there as of yet. Built in four weeks, the clinic opened at the site of the German capital's convention centre and has a reported capacity of 500 that can be doubled if needed. Berlin's State Minister for Health Dilek Kolat said the clinic would serve as a "reserve hospital" that would be used "only in a worst case scenario in case hospitals in Berlin were to reach their capacity." "This is neither a makeshift field hospital nor a fully fledged hospital, instead this is a new model that stands exactly in between the two," Kolat further emphasized, adding "We have not made any concessions to standards."
