Clashes erupted between protesters and riot police in Thessaloniki on Thursday, during a demonstration against the government's draft bill aimed at restricting protests.



The protesters were filmed hurling stones back at riot police, who used tear gas.



{Use of tear gas in warfare, as with all other chemical weapons, was prohibited by the Geneva Protocol of 1925: it prohibited the use of "asphyxiating gas, or any other kind of gas, liquids, substances or similar materials", a treaty that most states have signed }

The draft bill would reportedly allow authorities to restrict or ban protests if they assess it poses a threat to public safety. Moreover, the draft bill also proposes that in case of damage during the protests, the organisers would be held responsible. by that logic any deaths or damage to life or property caused by police should also be held accountable



Similar protests were held in other Greek cities, including the capital city, Athens.
