Police used tear gas and armoured vehicles to disperse anti-government demonstrators in Beirut as they continued to protest on Tuesday. Dozens of police officers in full riot gear were seen with armoured vehicles. The police appeared to be firing tear gas into the protesters to disperse the angry crowds. A damaged building on fire could also be seen, as some protesters kicked tear gas back at police and threw other objects at them. The protests were sparked after the designation of Mustapha Adib, Lebanon's former ambassador to Germany, as Lebanon's next prime minister. Local media reported that a number of protesters had managed to break into Beirut's Parliament earlier on Monday. The protests coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron second visit to the country after the deadly Beirut port blasts. Macron met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at his official residence in Baabda earlier in the day, to encourage swift governmental reforms.
