Russian peacekeepers arrived at Yerevan's Erebuni military airport on Wednesday to monitor the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region. According to Russia's Ministry of Defence, so far over 400 troops have already arrived in Armenia along with armoured personal carriers and communications equipment. The ministry said on Tuesday that 1,960 servicemen, 90 armoured personnel carriers, and 380 units of other vehicles and special equipment will monitor the agreement. Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Russian-brokered deal to cease fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh starting from 01:00 local time (21:00 GMT) on November 9. Under the terms of the agreement, Azerbaijan obtains control of the territory it has taken in the most recent fighting, with Armenia giving up further areas in the coming month.
