DARPA SUCCESSFULLY TESTS DRONE SWARM TECHNOLOGY
Live And Virtual Drones Worked Together With ‘High Degrees Of Autonomy,’ Completing Missions Despite Coming Under ‘Heavy Electronic Attack.’

The DARPA-funded program to interconnect fleets of drone ships on the water, jets in the sky, and other combat vehicles on the ground using artificial intelligence hit a major milestone recently with a successful test against electronic warfare defenses aimed at disrupting their communications.
At the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, DARPA’s Collaborative Operations in Denied Environment program demonstrated the ability of unmanned aerial systems to “adapt and respond to unexpected threats in an anti-access area denial environment.” The three-week demonstration featured ground and air-based scenarios with six live and up to 24 virtual unmanned aerial systems in a “live/virtual/constructive environment.”
Going up against pre-planned and pop-up targets protected by a simulated integrated air defense system in communications- and GPS-denied scenarios, the CODE-equipped vehicles:
• efficiently shared information,
• cooperatively planned and allocated mission objectives,
• made coordinated tactical decisions, and
• collaboratively reacted to a dynamic, high-threat environment with minimal communication.
The air vehicles initially operated with human supervision by a mission commander, but once communications were degraded or denied, the CODE-equipped vehicles retained their mission plan intent, to accomplishing their objectives without live human direction. This has been deemed a critical step toward the CODE program’s goal to “conduct dynamic, long-distance engagements of highly mobile ground and maritime targets in contested or denied battlespace.”
DARPA’s CODE program manager, Scott Wierzbanowski, said:
“The test series expanded on previously demonstrated approaches to low bandwidth collaborative sensing and on-board planning. It demonstrated the ability to operate in more challenging scenarios, where both communications and GPS navigation were denied for extended periods.
“The demonstrated behaviors are the building blocks for an autonomous team that can collaborate and adjust to mission requirements and a changing environment.”
DARPA also has reportedly developed the advanced infrastructure necessary to support further development of the CODE program, which is seen as a means of enhancing the survivability, flexibility, and effectiveness of existing military aircraft, as well as reducing the development and costs of future systems.
wanna know the biggest problem with this system, is that once it is denied code contact and all receiving of commands is stopped is that it will carry out its objective that were in play at the time of said comms cut off, meaning if anyone gets their hands on a unit they could program it with anyone's face even a president and then disable the comms leaving ti to carry out the mission and it will ensure its mission is completed by any means available or necessary,
