Footage highlights how the night started with good intentions, locals began by joining in with prayers being blasted out via speakers across the city on their balconies. However, shortly after this, locals began to take their prayers and chants away from their balconies and down to the streets to shout and sing against the corona virus, despite warnings from the Ministry of Health to remain at home and maintain social distance to prevent further spread of the virus. According to reports, police broke up the demonstration and arrested several of those taking part, and the march provoked widespread derision on social media.
