Thousands turned out to mourn and pay their respects to slain journalist Nabil al-Quaety as he was laid to rest in Aden on Thursday. Crowds of mourners were seen cheering, marching and carrying al-Quaety's coffin during the funeral, ahead of his burial in a local cemetery. Al-Quaety was shot dead by unidentified gunmen shortly after leaving his home in Aden on Tuesday. "The crime, as we have seen, is about the assassination of one of the most important journalists in Aden and the south," said one of the mourners, who added that "we condemn this crime, and we hope that the security authorities will be able to capture the perpetrators." Al-Quaety gained fame for documenting the events in Aden and south Yemen during the recent conflict, and used to work for AFP and Ruptly, as well as other agencies.
