Israeli Defence Forces confirmed on Wednesday that they had launched airstrikes against what they claim were Hezbollah observation posts in the Mays al-Jabal area across the border from Manara, a kibbutz near the UN-demarcated border between Israel and Lebanon. "During operational activity in northern Israel last night, shots were fired from Lebanon toward IDF troops. We responded with fire, & our aircraft struck Hezbollah observation posts near the border," said the IDF on their Twitter page. Lebanese locals living in the area of the airstrikes reported huge damage to personal property, saying that civilian life and possessions were at risk. "More than 50 bombs exploded and some of them hit people's homes and their fields. Then they [Israeli forces] started throwing phosphorous bombs, which caused fires. This is a normal thing for us stated local farmer Fadi Qutaish.
