The Olmec Civilization was one of the most influential ancient civilizations of the early Americas, but their origin still remains rather elusive. The Olmec are probably best known for the statues they carved: 20 ton stone heads, quarried and carved to commemorate their rulers. All later cultures, such as the Veracruz, Maya, Toltec, and Aztecs all borrowed from the Olmec.
