The document from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office - FCO 30/1048 - was released under the 30 year (secrecy) rule back in 2001.

We have gone through the over 200 pages of this and highlighted the relevant parts, for ease of reference; below is a summary and order of the subsequent (PDF) file.

The original and complete document is freely and widely available online, however for the main part it largely deals with peripheral technical points, aspects of academic speculation and conjecture.

It's clear from the contents of this that they not only knew more than they were letting on, but they knew both the true extent to which it would affect Britain and the opposition that it would create, if it were fully understood by the public.
Hence, there are references to disguising, omitting and obfuscation of certain questions, together with the realization of the need to lessen the detrimental impact of joining, by not mentioning the foreign bureaucracy of Europe when things go wrong.

Page 1, Titled 'Legal and Constitutional implications of entry of U.K. into E.E.C.'.
Hence why we refer to the E.E.C. and not the 'E.U.' which it became, but not in my name.

Anyone who thinks there is no deceit taking place should start looking here on page 2 and 3.
Concern is expressed over the impact on Parliamentary opinion about the fact that (E.E.C.) Community legislation would have primacy over British law.
It talks about how they cannot really soften or disguise the fact and that they should perhaps leave it out, although it notes that it has already been pointed out M.P.'s would ask why they had dodged the question.

This proves they knew British law would be subordinate to European law and that, as they knew people wouldn't like it, they were thinking of ways to either hide the fact from Parliament, or leave it out altogether.

Page 4 show the aforementioned question (16) which gave rise to the concern; asked when a Community regulation conflicts with a British statute which would prevail, the answer is clearly given that European law would prevail.
It also points out the fact that once made, Parliament would not be able to reject a regulations' application to Britain.
In the process, clearly demonstrating the subservient position of Parliament to Europe.

It also shows our courts would have to refer to the 'European Court of Justice' in certain cases.

Page 5 talks about how Britain should 'harmonise' economic and monetary systems with Europe, the effects this would have on British relations with the rest of the world and subsequent implications for National Sovereignty.
All that, together with the 'weakening of national institutions including Parliament', to boot.

Regarding the loss of Sovereignty which you may recall every pro-European fundamentalist keeps telling us we haven't lost, funnily enough Page 6 talks about exactly that, 'loss of Sovereignty' and the 'problems' of British power and influence.
Read it and weep...'British power and influence' is seen as a problem.
Most sane people would see that as an asset and one to be proud of, not a liability.

It also quite tellingly mentions that after entry in to the E.E.C. they (the Government) should ensure that any unpopular or bad developments are not blamed on the E.E.C. together with an admission of the 'remote and
unmanageable workings' of it (E.E.C.).

That is almost laughingly embarrassing; no wonder they didn't want anyone to see it for 30 years.

However, the last bit is all but funny; para. (5), mentions the 'Sovereignty that will be eroded'.

Pages 7 - 11 deals with Sovereignty, or more to the point, the loss of associated with joining.
It talks about the very real implications for it that we know (or at least now know) about and talks about
the 'extensive limitations' to our freedom of action, as a nation.

They mention the significance of accepting an external legislature with direct powers over Britain, in derogation of British statutes; it shows that in certain fields of law, Europe would have total control. Note the 'exclusive legislative competence' to the extent that 'our own legislature has none'.

These pages also state the fact that Britain would have her international negotiating power limited, the 'considerable' implications for freedom of independent action and the increased loss of Sovereignty as the 'Community' develops.

They show by joining, Britain would be accepting everything the existing members had already agreed and furthermore, accepting the imposition of all future 'Community' laws, without further question or participation from Parliament.
It again states that 'Community' law would take precedence over domestic law and that where they clash, it is 'the statute which has to give way' and the final nail in the coffin of British justice, that the decisions of the European
Court will be 'binding on our courts'.

You cannot really get much clearer on the fact that British Sovereignty has been lost, as European law takes
precedence and British statute law, as made by an act of a directly elected, British Parliament, has to capitulate and submit authority to a Foreign institution.

All those who fought in the Second World War must be turning in their graves.

It is not their democracy to give away and no Parliament is supposed to be able to give away powers to the detriment and loss of future Parliaments.

It's worth remembering at this point, that Ted Heath said at the time that it was 'merely a trading organization'.
No one from the establishment has ever acknowledged the deceit which was clearly perpetrated against the British people and have in fact, quite the opposite to this day, have been denying all and perpetuating the betrayal.

Under the heading of 'Political reality and popular concern', Pages 12 - 16 continue the theme of loss of National and Parliamentary Sovereignty, together with the long term implications for more pervasive changes and the subsequent further weakening of the Nation state.

Indeed it actually quite chillingly states that towards the end of the century, with effective defence and political harmonisation, the erosion of the role of the member state could be complete.

This is what they've been working for since the inception of the E.E.C.; a European super-state.
It's couldn't be clearer if it hit you in the face!

Pages 17 - 21 continues on the theme of loss of Sovereignty and the lack of control over the bureaucracy of the E.E.C. and recognizes that the more the E.E.C. expands, the more Parliamentary Sovereignty will be eroded.
The need to refrain from blaming unpopular and/or unfavourable developments for Britain at the door of the 'remote and unmanageable' E.E.C. in order to prevent the exacerbation of this is reminded to all.

Public concern for the loss of Sovereignty and democratic control over their own fate is recognized, as 'real and important'.
In an effort to counter this problem (as they see it) together with the instinctive British opposition to entry, it is suggested to strengthen local democracy.

Now some of us already knew that all these daft, local elections for made up positions for everything from 'crime commissioners' to Mayors were a political distraction.
A distraction which gives the illusion of democracy, whilst real power is being fraudulently controlled and abused by the controlling wealthy elite, for the almost sole benefit of the elite.
However, even for the most cynical and politically aware amongst us, the realization that the sudden interest and increase in this supposed 'local democracy' has its' origins stem from way back in a 1971 Government tactic intended to create a distraction from the very real loss of power to the E.E.C. is quite frankly, a revelation.

Pages 22/23 give a (non-exhaustive) list of areas where Parliamentary freedom to legislate are affected and repeats the fact that once made, a regulation from the E.E.C. cannot be amended or challenged by Parliament; decisions by the E.E.C. are simply only to be endorsed, after the event.
Parliament must 'take the regulation as it stands', with only the possibility of 'mere debate'.

Huh! So much for democracy then. How can anyone say we have not lost any democratic control?

Pages 24/25 give 'Further important areas' which H.M. Government will lose freedom of action in.
Hmm... Sounds great.

Just in case you were still in any doubt or under any lingering illusion that membership of the E.E.C. has not taken away democratic powers from Parliament, damaged British Sovereignty or put us under the direct control of the E.E.C. then pages 26 - 28 are for you.
They explicitly state that E.E.C. laws, existing and future, present a new body of 'Federal law' with precedence over our own domestic law.
Parliament will find it more and more difficult to supervise important decisions in the foreign bureaucracy of Brussels, but more worryingly, it says this will become apparent 'even in London'.

H.M. Government' freedom of action in many fields (given in previous pages) shall be restricted, with considerable implications for our freedom if independent action.
In one of the most damning pieces of evidence, that this is and they knew it was a political project from the start, is to be found in the last paragraph of page 28.

It clearly states that Parliament will lose some of its' legislative powers to the E.E.C. which in turn will take precedence over Parliamentary legislation and will have increased difficulty in carrying out its' traditional role.

On pages 29/30 is a copy of a letter to the M.P. Geoffrey Johnson Smith, is self-explanatory and has some interesting and telling points in it; some people did realize what was happening at the time, but unfortunately a combination of misplaced trust of authority, Government deception and misinformation, together with the prevailing economic situation at the time, all conspired against them.

Don't let it happen again now! Honour them, honour your Country and do yourself a favour; Vote to leave Europe at any and every opportunity to do so.
The sooner we get out, the better.

All this from what was supposed to be free trade agreement and the country was told it had nothing to do with Sovereignty or politics.

Ted Heath lied; the country is still being misled by the political and wealthy liberal elite, who are all bought and paid for and all have something to gain from it.

Anyone who is not disgusted, incensed or frankly livid, about any or all of the above is beyond help.
If the fact we have been taken in to the E.E.C. on a lie, have been continually deceived since and Government documents like this one show it; together with the depth of deception and manipulation to cover it up, as well as laying bare the true extent, nature and purpose of the E.E.C. is not going to convince or motivate you in to opposition to it, nothing will.

Anyone who still believes the E.E.C. is not a political project to create a European super-state, cannot see the fundamental lack of and loss of democracy, cannot see that we have been deceived all along, are either the elite, delusional or sadly, simply demented.
