how can certain individuals claim that

academia's tale of events be accurate

yet seemingly overlook such astonishing

feats of ancient engineering

how can one be expected to believe that

the cultures currently claim

as having been responsible for such

constructions

did indeed complete such tasks when they

are

in reality too advanced in undertaking

even for our own modern civilization

as such continuing to evade explanation

we feel that many of these individuals

are merely

towing a line rather than attempting to

unravel that which they perceive

as enigmatic and considerably

controversial to their current supposed

viewpoint

we feel there is no excuse for a

diligent researcher

to overlook these achievements when

investigating such sides

or indeed attempting to unravel the

secrets of our past

we also feel that if one attempts to

explain

away such sites or merely overlook such

features in favor of academic

explanation

it is an indication of conspiratorial

motives

rather than that of an honest purveyor

of discoveries

there are many unexplained features of

the ancient world

many of which we intend to share over

and if one merely wishes to convey an

illusion of all knowing

5 Worst Nightmare Space Missions

the Columbia Space Shuttle was making its usual approach to the Kennedy Space Center after a successful two-week mission, but shortly before 9:00am, abnormal readings in Mission Control indicated that something was wrong. Seconds later, the spacecraft broke apart in the sky. Columbia’s first flight took place in April of 1981, the first space shuttle to fly in space, and it completed 27 successful missions in total. On January 16, 2003, the shuttle took off for its 28th endeavor and was tasked with research activities in a routine assignment. However, the first problems arose merely 82 seconds after the spacecraft left the ground when a piece of foam detached from the external tank structure and pierced the left wing. A later investigation determined that NASA was aware of the incident from the beginning. Several people within the agency demanded to review imagery of the breached wing -now in orbit- to assess the damage and the risk, and even the Department of Defense was ready to employ its orbital spy cameras to look closer. But according to the Columbia Accident Investigation Board, NASA officials in charge of the program dismissed the offers and warnings. The landing then proceeded without further inspection, and when the spacecraft was flying over Dallas at 200,000 feet and 18 times the speed of sound, all communications with the crew were lost, and the readings from the shuttle vanished. Minutes later, Mission Control received a call: a television network was broadcasting the spacecraft as it disintegrated in the air. Search and rescue teams were immediately deployed, and 40 percent of the shuttle has been recovered to this day. It was also found that the 7-person crew was never aware of any issue, and the authorities reasoned: “You know, there is nothing we can do [...] Don't you think it would be better for them to have a happy successful flight and die unexpectedly during entry than to stay on orbit, knowing that there was nothing to be done, until the air ran out?”

5 Giant Monsters Still Hiding in Our Seas

The U-28 creature is perhaps the most credible account of a sea monster sighting in modern history. Still, the events that occurred on July 31, 1915, would be so disturbing to the crew that its commander would risk his career by writing an official report describing a never before seen creature of colossal proportions. U-28 was one of the most successful German ships during World War 1, sinking over 40 ships in the span of 4 years. The crew that worked on the vessel was exceptionally trained, very experienced, and honor-bound to military tradition. During that fateful day in 1915, the U-28 intercepted a British merchant ship off the coast of Ireland. The German submarine then torpedoed the merchant steamer, causing irreparable damage, and then surfaced to witness a potent blast coming from the sinking location. The sighting was attributed to the British boilers exploding. However, as the dramatic explosion occurred, the commanding officer aboard the U-boat, Captain Lieutenant Freiherr Georg-Günther von Forstner reported seeing something extremely unusual and frightening: (QUOTE) “The wreckage remained beneath the water for approximately twenty-five seconds, at a depth that remains clearly impossible to assess, when suddenly there was a violent explosion, which shot pieces of debris – among them a gigantic aquatic animal – out of the water to a height of approximately eighty feet. At that moment I had with me in the conning tower six of my officers of the watch, including the chief engineer, the navigator, and the helmsman. Simultaneously we all drew one another’s attention to this wonder of the seas, which was writhing and struggling among the debris.” The Captain went on to describe the creature as an aquatic crocodile measuring about 60 feet, with four limbs and a long tail. He claimed to be unable to take a photograph as the animal sank out of sight after 10 to 15 seconds. The groundbreaking sighting of the monstrous sea creature would be questioned by many people for decades. However, the captain and crew’s reputations have given some validity to the story, and many experts consider the possibility that this might have been a real encounter with a prehistoric creature. The similarities of the U-28 creature with an ancient Mosasaurus -a prehistoric sea-crocodile that roamed the oceans millions of years ago- cannot be disregarded. Some have even suggested that the U-28 crew stumbled upon a deep-sea creature exploring the surface and that massive monsters still dwell within the ocean’s depths, waiting to be discovered.

5 Mythical Places That Might Actually Exist

In the early 20th century, British Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett found a mysterious document in the National Library of Brazil that spoke of an ancient city lost in the jungles of the Amazon. Then, during an expedition with his son and a companion in 1925, the three explorers vanished. However, it is believed that they might have been close to the place they were looking for. When Fawcett found Manuscript 512, he was taken aback. The document was written by Portuguese bandeirante João da Silva Guimarães and stated that as early as 1753, explorers had discovered ruins that included arches, a statue, and a temple engraved with enigmatic hieroglyphs. And although the narration was detailed, the city's exact location was not mentioned. Fawcett then began preparing an expedition to find the ruins, but World War 1 broke out, and the British government withdrew its support. After serving in the Western front during the war, Fawcett undertook a personal journey to find “Z” in 1920, but was forced to stop due to an illness and the fact that he had to shoot his own pack animal. The adventurer tried again five years later, this time accompanied by his son Jack and a friend of his, Raleigh Rimell. However, the three soon disappeared in the Mato Grosso jungle. Several researchers argue that the explorer might have been influenced by indigenous tales, and locals could have told Fawcett of the archaeological site of Kuhikugu, near the Xingu River. After Fawcett’s presumed death, the actual site of Kuhikugu was discovered, and it contained the ruins of about 20 towns and villages. Moreover, it is estimated that about 50,000 people might have lived in the extensive township. In addition, vast geometrical earthworks were discovered in interfluvial settings along the southern Amazonia, and this fact has been recognized as supporting Fawcett’s theory. While some relate the Lost City of Z with the infamous El Dorado, the mythical place has inspired its own set of stories, including a book by David Grann and a film adaptation by director James Gray.
